Oblivion
Alton Towers, England

Oblivion
Make/ModelBolliger & Mabillard Diving Machine
TypeSteel - Dive Machine
Year Built1998
at Alton1998 to present

Another first for Alton Towers, Oblivion was the first B&M dive machine in the world. Sleds of 2 rows of 8 seats are held dangling over the edge of a vertical drop for several seconds, before plunging down 180 feet at 87.5 degrees into a hole in the ground – think extreme airtime. After re-emerging they take an overbanked turn and return to the station. It’s a one-trick pony, but what a trick!
